BREAKING THE TABOO!!

“Tears”. A term we all are familiar with. No matter you are Ambani or Michael Jackson or Oprah or Honey Singh or “the ordinary”. This is something we all have felt. Some might have shared it with their pillow, some with their friends, some with their lovers, some in front of god, some some where. At times we feel them rolling down our cheeks when we are happy, sometimes when we are sad and the other times when we are completely screwed up!!

And I was wondering why? Why do we even cry? Science says crying is good. After all it cleans your eyes. Agreed, they do clean our eyes but then is it some kind of exercise for brain too because the head starts aching too! I think may be tears are like the physical expression of “extremity”. I mean we cry when we are extremely happy. We have got something beyond our imagination. We also cry when something beyond our level of bearing has happened. Like a broken heart, or may be some kind of failure or may be a fraud or something our heart says “seriously, this has happened?”

But then if it is so natural and so obvious why do we tend to hide them? Why are we like “no I am not crying, it’s just the water. You see my eyes are paining!” why? If you are crying, say “yes I am crying. If you have issues you better put your head the other way round!” What if people look at us in pity? Doesn’t everyone have their strong and weak moments? Isn’t it obvious? Why is that we are different at our house, different at our work place and then completely different in our room?
And then wait? Why do even people pity? I mean the other person is just crying. Letting go of things. I mean just imagine “you are crying and someone comes to you, pats your shoulder and says I am proud of you. I know you are strong enough to bring you life back on track.” Such a nice feeling it would be. At least I think so!!

And when I say cry when you feel like crying, that goes for everyone. Even for the boys. I mean boys are no stones! They are like normal human beings (I know some would say they are not normal, but still they are human and for those who think they are dogs at least they are living things). When they have got eyes, don’t you think they should also be allowed to clean them in public!! We are in 21st century, and I think we need to get out of that taboo which says “crying is for weak! Boys don’t cry”!! Have you lost it? Crying is for strong. Not everyone has the guts to express themselves completely irrespective of their surroundings.

And this is what I felt. In this quest of figuring out things around me, I realized tears are in every eye. The society has somehow related them to being weak. But I guess the weak, was scared of the strong and hence changed the strongest of emotion “crying” to weak!! I am not saying cry and always cry. What I am trying to say is “BE FREE”! Free to express yourself. You are happy, be happy. You feel like crying, cry. You feel like kicking some, kick. You feel like loving, love. You feel like XYZ, do XYZ. But just remember BE FREE.
