If you are someone who would buy lot of books, read them on and off, and find your parents hating for occupying half of their house with your damn books, the ones you don’t read, hello my twin fella! I have had a on off relationship with books. Sometimes I would pick a book which is good but there are so many things going on in parallel, that even though the book is good, considering it is tough as well, I would make it a task. Or sometimes I would get the same genre again and again, I know this is not why you are here, right! I mean no body would want to hear somebody who is hoarding books and then ranting about it! So, well, I am reading the courage to be happy today. And because I do not want my book reading sessions to be just about reading the book, and not grasping anything out of it, I am combining these with the writing sessions as well. This post is all about that!
Quotes that I liked
Happiness in not something one can enjoy by staying where one is. One has to keep walking along the path one has embarked on.
This book is a dialogue, although on paper sounds like a dialogue between a person and the philosopher, seems to me like an internal dialogue. Often when we believe into something, and that too very fiercely, when it starts to contradict with our ecosystem, we tend to have confusions and dialogues. The chapter I read today talks about the difference between philosophy, religion and science and how philosophy is the love for wisdom, for never stopping and just going over and over again, or continuing in the path for wisdom!
It then talks about the importance of education or to say what exactly is education.
Having read both the points the author made on education as well as philosophy, if we come to think of it, and may be I am sounding like the author, but isn’t life actually just an experience and we are all here to keep experiencing more and more things, and some people choose to experience in breadth while may be some do it on depth. And no matter what, our entire goal is to keep experiencing, the things that keep coming in our path and just keep doing it.
Don’t you think may be that is what is common in most of the successful people all around the world. The fact that they never stopped. They just kept doing it, doing whatever they were doing, over and over again, without even thinking about the finish line, without thinking about the right and the wrong! And considering that it is indeed a black room, where you never know the depth of it, you keep doing it over and over, and so in that case, you need to find something that makes you feel alive, because doing something that is making you feel dead, over and over again, would be a paradox to life, won’t it be!
The book talks about education, and what its job in our life is! Having read it, don’t you think all of us individuals pursuit or the main job in life is to educate ourselves, and just keep educating ourselves, about different things, over and over again. That is what this has been all about, all the greatest discoveries, all the greatest philosophies, the sciences or humanities, the behaviours or experiences, are all and nothing but the pursuit of knowledge and may be the person who feels the most alive is the one who is educating themselves. Knowing the fact that no matter how much they know, there is so much more to know!
And as the book mentions, education is not just about books or religion or philosophy for that matter, it is about everything, about our bodies, about mind, about sexuality and everything in between. And we all are using education as a medium to become more free, to be more self reliant and be more in tuned with our journeys! Learn to find our strength and to find our voice and to make sure that we resolve the conflict within ourselves, to live at peace with ourselves.
I think that is also a reason that I felt most alive in my life was in 2014 and 2015 and 2016. Imagine having lived 30 years and have felt alive in just 3! I think the reason for it, is also because it was during this time, that I was doing what I was intended to do! Educate myself and learn! I think I stopped living life, when I stopped educating myself! Coming to think of it, I guess learning must never stop! Education must go on, for live to go on!
That is for today’s fellas! Hoping that this book has much more in store for us!
