Places are so much like people! Don’t you think so? We just don’t know the way around for places, the ways to reach the place, the best things to do in the place, but when we keep going to the same place, we get to know so much about them! We understand the best time to visit the place, the corners which have the most uncommon and yet beautiful things, the shortest way to reach there and just like that, some places become a part of us!
Two months back, I came to Bengaluru and on reaching here, I thought of cutting my hair short! After lot of thoughts I finalised a place, and once my hair cut was done, I went out to watch a movie which was in Brigade Road. I think I watched the movie and then wanted to find out a way to reach back home that was cheaper. I went to Church street, went through the entire area and I think walked for around an hour or so, circling back again to the same places and not really vibing with the place.
Today I went to Church street, took a metro and stopped at MG metro station, which is basically at the entrance of Church street. This is the same street I went up and down twice just to make sense of finding an auto wala that was cheaper! and after walking for an hour around this street two months back I went back on Auto!
But today, today was different. I knew that I had to take the metro. I knew that there is no particular metro station for Church street, but the metro station of MG road opens two ways, there is a gate that opens at Church street and another that takes you to main MG road area. When I went down and came out of Metro station, I was at Church street. This was the third time I was visiting Church street and I knew today that the “Chai Point” sucks at tea! After all I had tried it already. I knew that just around the corner is an uncle who sells yummy “Amiya” and although I did meet other sellers, I went straight to him!
This time I knew that there are lot of book shops here and although I figured out that there are many with the same name, I am yet to find the one which is authentic! I also went down the same street and saw places I did not last time, the fact that there are some amazing art work done on the street, amazed me! The fact that there is a Bollywood style chai seller just made my day! Yes, Bollywood style, “chai Galli”, they have paintings of Shahrukh khan, there were “Jhoolas” or swings, there were classic 90s songs being played and it was amazing! I met these parts of the Church street this time.

It was today that I figured out that the street I was going up and down the other day, is Brigade Road, and anything “Brigade” is Bengaluru is for rich people ๐ Funny it is, isn’t it! Same place, over and over again, and we find different things each time! Same with people, isn’t it! Every time we visit the same person again, we find layers of them we never knew about! We see things or experience things as the person grows in their life and just like a place, although no one can love all the parts of the place, no can love every part of the person. But, yet, even after all of that, there are some places, some people who become part of our home, and sometimes our home!
Amore,
Avantika
