Yes. I bought this book. Not because I wanted to make my life extraordinary. Having read all of Cohelo’s books and so many other self help books, one thing that I abhor to do is read more of self help books. Honestly, for this one, I was forced into buying, not by any one, but my situation. I had to be in office, for 8 hours with no work and did not wanted to just be looking at my phone while others were working and so thought of buying a book. Of all the books that were available in the shop of the metro station, the only one with the minimum price was this one, and so I got it!
Although, I did start reading this while I was in office could not finish it there. And only when the ping of my gmail reminder told me about the things I had to achieve before this year, that I started reading the book. Someone who has ever read a book knows one thing for sure, there is a difference between reading a book and inhaling what is written and then imbibing it into our lives. MAJOR DIFFERENCE! The first few chapters that I read of this book were mere reading, and I really cannot recall any of that.
What I can, however, are two of the most important lessons I grasped from this book.
MONEY
This I think was an eye opener for me. So, there is a chapter in this book which talks about money. It talks about few friends, of which one became really rich and the others did not. They came and asked him how he did. What he shared, stuck with me! No matter how much you earn, one tenth of that should be for your use. You should keep it for yourself. And make sure that you use the money to generate more money, in terms of business. So, basically everyone, should have a business of their own, no matter how small it is. The one tenth should also be spent on luxury for yourself and you need to give thought into what and how you are spending that money.
FINDING WORK OF YOUR LIFE
Steve jobs was correct when he said, you need to find what you love! This was told again in this book by another author. The infinite intelligence of my subconscious mind reveals to me my true place in life. What a line! Isn’t it! Joseph Murphy said it and asked us to chant this silently about around at least 10 times a day. Because if you already know what is that one thing that you love and would want to do for the rest of your life, you have hit the jackpot. If you have not, you need to chant this, to find what is your true place in life. It is only in your true place where you will thrive, and life is about thriving.
This books feels to be one of those books that no matter how many times you have read it, you might want to go back to it! Not always in totality but sometimes in bits and parts. To just read a chapter or so and then imbibe the knowledge and move on with life. There is nothing new that has been told in the book, it is more like a summary of some of the greatest books, some of the greatest thoughts, a summary. You might want to have it, if you are just beginning with your reading process. But if you already are someone who reads a lot, knows a lot, has imbibed most of the lessons, may be you can skip on this one.
