IELTS Speaking Part I

What is your job?

I am presently employed with a MNC in the IT industry and working in the Big data analytics field. My job involves working with the data industry, where I analyze data for the client and provide solutions to the problem use cases.

Where do you work?

I am currently working in Chandigarh and my home is around 4 hours away from the city.

Why did you choose that job?

Having a Bachelor’s in the field of Computer Science, databases intrigued me the most and when I got a job related to that in my current company, there was nothing much that I could have asked for. Analyzing data and providing solutions interest me.

Is it a popular job in your country?

Big data is an emerging field in the IT sector and with it being the biggest employer in my country, this is definitely a popular job. Most engineering graduates do take up a job in this sector and Big data being the emerging dialog of the market, it does paves way for being the most popular job in the country.

Do you like your job?

I do enjoy my job for it brings together both the field of data and storytelling, something that has been part time job for me for a long time.

Do you get on well with your colleagues?

Most of the colleagues of my job are of the same age as I am and we do get along with each other, sharing sometimes our good and bad memories together. Even more, the parties and the work that we do together has brought us close.

What was your first day like?

My first day at office was a complete mess, being unaware of where to go and how to go about. The only person that saved it up, was my manager. After two hours of moving directionless, it was when my HR manager called all of us and gave a briefing about how the organization works. We were assigned managers and from the next day onwards got to be involved in the team.

What responsibilities do you have at work?

Being a Technology analyst at my work, it is my responsibility to involve directly with the client and understand the working for the project. Also, we have now a team of four and training them and guiding them through this project, is one another responsibility that I have.

If you had the chance, would you change your job?

Probably, in some years to come I would definitely like to change my job. But, more likely to a new field of interest. I have been working with the IT industry for a long time now and might like to vent out in some another field.
