Friends are the most amazing creatures in our lives, they do interesting things here and there! In a recent IELTS exam, the following cue card came up. Let us see the possible answers for it –

Describe something interesting that your friend has done. 

During last year vocations, all of my friends started doing some activities to utilize their leisure time. Some joined cooking or dance classes while others started getting rudimentary knowledge of a foreign language. But, if I have to point out one interesting thing that a friend of mine did, it would be about Avinash. She did something I always wanted to!

Teaching poor kids how to read and write was something out of the box! She had her daily classes for the exams she was preparing and post that she would learn the basics of subjects and would teach to students. More importantly, she learned how to teach the different subjects and subsequently started teaching the students.

Having commenced teaching, once she uploaded a video with a girl whom she had taught and the skills the girl learned on social media. When we met after her vocation, I took detailed information about her journey and the difficulties and the rough time she faced!

She told me that it was not easy in the beginning, there were moments of frustration and she did felt like quitting but one day a girl came and recognized a word that she had taught. It made her so happy that she persisted through it. After that, she started teaching in different ways, sometimes in funny ways and then at times through games.

Taking inspiration from her, I am looking forward to teaching poor kids in my locality next time during my summer vacations. I hope it will help me in increasing my patience level and also share some of the knowledge that I have gained over a period of time with them.
