THE WELCOME POST !

We are living in the world of technology, where awareness about the world is just a click away. And, so I assume that you must have heard the name BI (if not, it’s not a big deal) and must be a little aware of the fact that it is emerging and business all around the world need it and are using it.

But then what is BI?? When it comes to definitions, there are many and we will be looking at them very soon. But in layman terms, BI is a term used for the set of software applications required to analyze organizations raw data.

Some of the tools that are used are –

  1. SAP Net Weaver, SAP Business Object
  2. Informatica
  3. Oracle BI EE
  4. Oracle BI Integrator
  5. Cognos BI

Business intelligence is an emerging field and people are being gravitated towards it. As a learner, if you are interested in learning business intelligence and the concepts of how it works, it is very important for you to realize two things-

  1.  CONCEPTS MATTER– When learning BI it is important for you to understand that it is the concept that matters. Tools are important but then they are just a way of implementing the concepts that you have learned. Even more, tools come in and out very frequently, so what will help you in long run is the concept. But saying this, make sure you have a command in at least one tool for each of the phase viz. integration, presentation, and database.
  2. STANDARDS MATTER– When learning Business Intelligence concepts, make sure you know why you want to learn it. Because, if it is just like that, there is no point in doing it. But, when most people learn it, it is because they want to implement it in a business requirement and for that, it is very important to pick up industry standards and domain knowledge.

So, when learning BI make sure you take care of both the things.

BI IS NOT FOR CODERS (Seriously!!)

This is a common myth that most people have about BI. It is often thought that BI has nothing to do with coding but the fact is that there is coding involved in the construction phase. It has ETL development, report development and database programming in it.
But, if you are interested in making your business better and learning what is required to make sure you make profits, we’ll delve deeper into the world of Business Intelligence which is exciting, gripping and holds a lot of potential in itself and the ones learning it.
Happy Learning 🙂
