An Appeal Of Hope

Life has been running at quite a pace now and I have been not able to post lot of stuff here. But there is something I really wish to tell you all.

A few days back I was at a bus stop waiting for my bus to come. Idiot I am, when the bus did not arrived for a long time I started gazing at people around me and my eyes got stuck at a girl begging for money. Initially I thought poor girl! At the age of going to school she has to beg. I noticed her for a while, and then went on to ask her if she wanted to study. She replied,” I cannot”. For a second I thought what!! I mean what does she mean! I asked her again! What do you mean? She simply said,” this is something not within my capabilities.” I thought what makes her think this way. I felt pity and then she gave me a stern look to move away from her.
For the next one hour I was there, looking at her. Every time an auto stopped, she would go on and beg. There were times she got nothing, while there were also times she got. So on an average it was a 70% hit case. She usually got the money. And within an hour she earned about forty rupees. This is like 400 a day. On figuring out this, I went on to talk to her. How much she earns? What is her name? The usual stuff!!
To my surprise she pretty much had no issues with her being a beggar. When I again asked her about education, she simply said, if I go to school, who will earn the money! And there was no sign of self pity. It seemed as if she does not simply wants to study. After some time, her friends also came by and we had a chat. They were all pretty happy, pretty much satisfied. They told me there stories. How they earn 90 rupee coins and then sell them to the auto rickshaws at 100. And then all of a sudden, they were like,” fine we are going now. We have to go to the temple”. I said a bye and went off.

So, why am I telling you? I am not talking to those who have nothing to do with beggars and the poverty!! NO!! Right now I am making a voice to those who feel pity towards them and give them the money!! Trust me if you really feel something for them, DON’T GIVE THEM THE MONEY. If you give them the money, they will never try to educate themselves. They will never try to uplift themselves. So, go on help them. Don’t give money to them, you not only make them beggars but also push others into this industry of begging.
