GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!!!

Well yes this is what it read as!! “Give Peace A Chance!!!”… I read an article in The times of India and found it worth sharing, so here it goes…

Modern life is full of conflict.Not just in terms of civil war or war among nations,but the war within our minds,in our office cubicles,on the social platform and with the people in the family,or peer group.

The world may be a closer place in terms of connectivity, but our minds are as far as apart as possible from people around us. Compassion and empathy are qualities on fast decline, and we feel disconnected with ourselves more than ever.

Having the know-how of conflict resolution in such times,becomes essential for a happy and productive family,community and career. We find four new ideas to resolve conflict, from a primatologist, a life coach, a corporate coach and a psychologist…

THE LANGUAGE OF CHILDHOOD

Non-violent communication : american psychologist Dr Marshall B.Rosenberg believes compassion is a human’s natural state of being , but our society has for the longest time disconnected the person from himself by the weight of expectations on him. He says he doesn’t find an honest answer to the simplest question in the world: How are you? Whether the answer is ‘good’ or ‘okay’, the basis of that answer is always “what people think?”, never ” How do I actually feel?”

Dr.Rosenberg was also struck by the crucial role that language can play in connecting or disconnecting people. “While we may not consider the way we talk to people as ‘violent’,words often lead to hurt and pain towards ourselves or to others. And the reason for this is that so many of us have been trained to speak in terms of moralistic judgements evaluations and labels that disconnect us from compassion”says Dr Rosenberg.
